Canton’s Gwendolyn Glennon named NWGC Player and Rookie of the Week
SYRACUSE, NY – Canton freshman Gwendolyn Glennon (Haines Falls, NY) has been selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Player and Rookie of the Week.
The NWGC announced the honor from its office in Syracuse, N.Y., on Wednesday, Oct. 12, for events held Oct. 3-10.
Glennon was the top rookie finisher at the two-day, 36-hole Nazareth Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 9, and Monday, Oct. 10.
On Sunday, Glennon finished with three birdies on the opening day by registering a one under on the Par 4 eighth hole, the Par 5 ninth hole, and the Par 4 14th hole. She chipped in the birdie on 14 and finished with two pars and nine bogeys.
Glennon followed up the first round by carding a Monday score of 95, finishing fourth in the two-day event with a combined score of 180. The field consisted of 19 golfers.
The rookie finished with four pars and nine bogeys on Day 2, shooting 47 on the front nine and registering a 48 on the back nine.
The Roos competed as individuals in the tournament with only three players.
