Cortland’s Sophie Oristian named NWGC Player of the Week

SYRACUSE, NY – Cortland sophomore Sophie Oristian (North Potomac, MD/Quince Orchard) has been selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Player of the Week.

The NWGC announced the honor from its office in Syracuse, N.Y., on Thursday, March 23, for events held through March 19.

Oristian was Cortland's top finisher with a tie for third place during the Red Dragons' dual-match loss to Hamilton in Ormond Beach, Fla. on Friday, March 17. She posted an 81 on the par-72 layout at the Halifax Plantation Golf Club.

The previous day Oristian tied for fourth with a nine-hole score of 42 during a non-team scoring match versus Ithaca on a par-36 layout at the Cleveland Heights Golf Course in Lakeland, Fla.
