Utica’s Claire Draper named NWGC Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, NY – Utica freshman Claire Draper (Watertown, NY) has been selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Rookie of the Week.

The NWGC announced the honor from its office in Syracuse, N.Y., on Tuesday, Sept. 23, for events held Sept. 15-21.

Draper was excellent in her collegiate debut during the SUNY Poly Invitational on Sept. 8. She finished third with a +13 on the Par 73 Teugega Country Club in Rome, N.Y.

The rookie golfer finished just two strokes out of second place after posting a round of 86 on the 5550-yard course. Her round featured two birdies, including staying below par through the first three holes of the day.
