Cortland’s Steffi Trombley earns NWGC weekly rookie honor

SYRACUSE, NY – Cortland freshman Steffi Trombley (Plattsburgh, NY/Plattsburgh) has been named the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Rookie of the Week.

The NWGC announced the honor from its office in Syracuse, N.Y., on Wednesday, March 25, for events held March 16-22. It marks the second time this season Trombley has garnered the award after claiming the honor on Sept. 9.

Trombley tied for 30th place out of 55 golfers at the two-day Virginia Wesleyan Marlins Invitational. She recorded an 89 on Monday, March 16, and a 93 on Tuesday, March 17, for a final score of 182.

The tournament was held at the par-72 Cypress Point Country Club in Virginia Beach, VA. Cortland finished fifth out of nine schools in the final team standings.
