St. John Fisher’s Emma Sweazy named NWGC Player, Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, NY – St. John Fisher freshman Emma Sweazy (Rush, NY) has been selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Player and Rookie of the Week.
 
The NWGC announced the honor from its office in Syracuse, N.Y., on Wednesday, April 1, for events held March 23-29
 
Sweazy finished in a tie for third place to lead St. John Fisher over the weekend in the McDaniel College Spring Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club. Sweazy ended the tournament in a three-way tie for third with a pair of Catholic University golfers - Lauren Wright and Gabrielle Courtney.
 
The first-year standout carded a 24-over par 168, eight strokes behind first-place Shuyi Wang of Franklin & Marshall. Sweazy shot an 82 in the first round and an 86 in the second, and she recorded a birdie on the Par 4 12th hole on Sunday.
As a team, the Cardinals ended the two-day tournament tied with Salisbury for fifth place at +163 (739). Catholic (+109) took first, while the rest of the leaderboard's top half included Gettysburg (+133), Stevenson (+147) and Franklin & Marshall (+158), respectively.
